Have you ever dealt with an agressive Doctor's office?!

Question: Have you ever dealt with an agressive Doctor's office!?
Please tell me if you think my dentists office is being too aggressive:

My Husband and I went for our cleaning about 9 months ago!. The dentist pressed us to have a deep cleaning done!. This deep cleaning is $200 per quadrant of the mouth!. This would make the grand total for my Husband and I to have a deep cleaning $1,600!. OUCH! So we are holding off on this until the right time despite their trying to scare us about the consequences of not having this dont!. We don't feel it's necessary as long as we keep up with our regular cleanings!. We have pretty good mouth health!.

Ever since our last visit, it seems like they just won't leave us alone until we have this procedure done! We've received calls, letters, messages urging us to come in!. Again, yesterday, they called my husband on his cell saying "we would like to set up an appointment right now for you to have this done!. When is good for you!?" THEN they called my cell phone and left a message!. THEN they called my cell phone again in the afternoon urging me to book this appointment!. I'm getting a little sick of their agressiveness!. I can understand sending a reminder postcard, but calls, messages, letters!?!? Don't you feel like this is a bit too much!? I feel like doctors offices are there when YOU"RE ready to call and make an appointment!. Have you ever had a doctor hound you!? What would you do!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
It is the dentist's legal and moral responsibility to ensure that the patient gets the care he or she needs, and is thoroughly informed as to what treatment is needed!.

Your dentist should tell you that you need a deep cleaning, why you need it, and how much it will cost!. Then the dentist should leave you alone and let you make the decision based on the information he or she has given you!.

Your dentist has crossed the line between taking care of you as a patient and needing to keep his hygienist busy!. The behavior is unacceptable and borders on harassment!.

I would suggest calling the office and telling them that you are not interested in a deep cleaning at this time, and if they continue to harass you, you will have to report them to the ADA (American Dental Association), as well as the Better Business Bureau!.

And then find a new dentist!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

That's outrageous and seemingly very unethical!.!.!.!.I would go up one side of them, and back down the other!. They are being bullies and only doing it for the cash grab!. Change dentists!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

That is wayyyyyy too aggressive! Tell them that you have a new dentist!. And then find another place to go!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Would this be Western Dental!? Sound like them!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I had this happen to me last year with a different dentist!. They kept telling me to go in an do my implant ($2800)!. I got pissed because he was unable to resolve my toothache which was what I went in for originally!. Long story short after about 2 calls I told them not to call me anymore as I am going to another dentist!. They did stop calling and I have a wonderful dentist now with very courteous staff members!.

Maybe you can politely tell them that you are not ready to spend that kind of money yet and would like to just do regular cleanings!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
