Oh trust me, bulimia will make your teeth (not to mention your life) Hell!. In fact, at this very moment, I am suffering from a cracked tooth and an abscess in the very same tooth, along with many fillings I've had done over the years, due to four years of bulimia!. Even if you don't do it that often or haven't been doing it that long, hydrochloric acid (the acid that is in our stomach) is very strong and quickly takes it's toll on your teeth!. It's not just your teeth that suffer - the rest of your body does too, and very much so at that!. One of the most severe complications from bulimia is an electrolyte imbalance, which occurs on some level every time we purge!. If the imbalance gets bad enough, it can cause cardiac arrest and result in sudden death!.

One piece of advice I can give you, to help your teeth cope a bit better, because I know bulimia is a hard disease to fight and you just can't stop, is to rinse with a mix of baking soda and water after purging!. This will help neutralize the acid in your mouth!. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT brush your teeth immediately after purging!. It will only rub the acid into your teeth, speeding up the process in which the acid breaks down enamel and therefore, will cause your teeth to break down much more, and much more quickly!.

I do hope someday you can get help and recover!. I know it's very hard, as I haven't even been able to do it myself, but I hope someday you can!. :)

Like many other people said, yes acid can destroy your teeth rather quickly!. Also your gums can become inflamed and loosen around your teeth!. Other long term problems can be increased GERD (Gastro-esophageal reflux disorder), ulcers in the esophagus, increased stress on the circulatory system which can result in heart attacks or strokes, vitamin deficiencies, along with a host of other problems!. Those are just physical problems!. Of course, starting this shows some emotional problems as well!. Although this can be a coping mechanism for emotional distress, it is not a long term solution!. Often these self-destructive habits can increase feelings of isolation and lack of control!. Learning healthy eating habits and exercise can be hard but will actually help in the long run both physically and mentally!. Seeking the advice of a competent counselor would also go a long way to helping you resolve the issues you are dealing with!. Best of luck to you!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Most common damages from Bulimia to your teeth:

1) Yellowish Teeth!.

2) Back side of your teeth (tongue side of your teeth) worn out, enamel thinning!.

All due to your stomach acid from reaching those areas by throwing up!. I heard that the gastric acid can damage your food path, wind pipe!.!.!.etc but I dunno for sure!.

Your teeth begin to hurt because the enamel is almost completely gone! Duhhh, before you know it, you'll have cavities because there's no more protection to the surface of your teeth!.

Do you really wanna have crowns, bridges!.!.!.even dentures in your mouth!? (at any age!.!.!.at all!?) It's up to you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Constant vomiting causes the stomach acid that is purged to wear down the enamel on your teeth!. Twenty instances in a short time could definitely begin the process!. I've read stories of people who have bulimia having teeth crumble upon touch after such abuse!. Please, seek help or at least talk to someone!. Don't sacrifice your teeth and other things for this illness!. Eating disorders never give you what you want, as you will always want more!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

That could be why because the acid from your vomit eats away at the enamel on your teeth and makes them weak and thin!.
Try not to do that anymore!. It really will wear on you, not just your teeth in the long run!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
