Should I be worried-teeth grinding?!

Question: Should I be worried-teeth grinding!?
My 16 month old grinds her teeth ALOT!?

Sometimes she goes days without doing it & then all of a sudden she'll start grinding her teeth again!.!.!.I really dont think it's from teething b/c this has been going off & on for the last 2 months & no new teeth!. When she does do it it's so loud too!

Also, she doesnt grind her teeth when she's sleeping-not that I know of anyway, only when she's awake & I dont think she does it to "get a rise out of me" because I try to block it out & not make a big deal out of it so she doesn't do it just to see my reaction

Is this normal behavior & why is she only grinding when she's awake!? Also why the late onset of grinding!? she grounded her teeth when she first got them but not nearly as often so why so late in the game is she doing it!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
It sounds like something stress-related!.

She should make a special effort to relax her jaw!. I have to do this sometimes when I'm driving (more when I lived in New Jersey, I'm in Virginia now)!. She can damage her teeth over time!.

It's good and bad that she doesn't do it while she sleeps!. Good because sleeping time is when you have no control over yourself!. Bad because at least at night, she could wear a night guard!.

I would talk to her about it and see if she notices!. Try to get her to make a change!. I don't think she's doing it to get you going or anything!.

If possible, you might want to take her to a behavioral physiologist!. It never hurts anyway to talk about things with a professional!.

Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com
