Preventing pre-root canal pain?!

Question: Preventing pre-root canal pain!?
I was at the dentist yesterday, and was told to go to a specialist to double check if I have a root canal in a tooth that has been bothering me for about three years!. No cold/hot/ sweets sensitivity, but it is to pressure, usually from biting down or clenching my jaw!.
I've been taking a pain killer (Over-the-counter, what the name is I don't know off of the top of my head), but when it wears off and the pain starts back up again, I don't know what to do!. I don't want to keep popping pills until the specialist tells me what to do, so does anyone have any at-home remedies that I could try that will work, made from things and such that I can get around the house/ will be easy to go out and get!?
Any help is VERY much appreciatedd!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I agree that it's mostly likely a tooth fracture that are very hard to detect in the first place!. Since extractions are the only solution to tooth fractures, the dentist was right to ask you to double check with a specialist first!.

In the meantime, avoid irritating food (hot, spicy, and/or hard food), keep the tooth clean by gentle brushing, and avoid any emotional stress!. Some people clench subconsciously out of stress!. You should make a conscious effort to keep your teeth separate!.

I would stick to a soft diet and STOP CLENCHING!!!! You very well could have a cracked tooth and they are hard to diagnose!.!.!.I would take advil every 4-6 hours if the pain is bad!! If the tooth is abscessed or possibly abscessed your dentist should have put you on an antibiotic to get the infection under control!. I would call his office and ask!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
