the anesthesia can cause some nausea and in turn you can vomit but thats not the entire reason for being NPO before the surgery!. it is the chance of aspirating on the vomit(breathing it in) and that can cause harmful effects to your health such as pneumoniaWww@Answer-Health@Com
i got mine out today and the doc told me it was because if u threw up it could end up inside your internal organs like ur lungs and suffocate u
