Is this a complication of having TMJ?!

Question: Is this a complication of having TMJ!?
My dentist and orthodontist say I have TMJ but my doctor says I don't!. Go figure!.

But lately I have been feeling extreme amounts of pressure in my jaw area, almost in my ear, and into my neck!. It feels like someone is trying to strangle me because there's that much pressure!.

Is this a complication of TMJ!? I'm going to the orthodontist on Thursday to get a splint for my jaw!. But in the meantime, is there anything I can do to relieve the pressure!? It is getting so bad now I can't stand it!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
TMJ most often occurs in people who grind or clench their teeth!. TMJ involves not only the joint in your jaw, but the entire area including your shoulders!.

Pain is most commonly felt in the facial muscles and jaw joints may radiate to the neck or shoulders!. You may experience muscle spasms from TMJ syndrome!. You may feel pain every time you talk, chew, or yawn!. Pain usually appears in the joint itself, in front of the ear, but it may move elsewhere in the skull, face, or jaw!.

You can try some stretching exercises!. Stretch your neck by first moving it to one side (try to touch your shoulder) and then do the other side!.

You can massage the muscles and areas that hurt by pressing on the sore areas!.

Warm up a wet washcloth in the microwave for 10 secs or run it under hot water!. Apply it to the areas that are sore!. You can alternate this with ice packs!.

Take Tylenol or Ibuprophen to bring down the inflammation!.

I would go with the opinion of your dentist and orthodontist regarding whether you have TMJ or not!. They are experts in mouth disorders!.
Unless the doctor had you open your mouth and press on the joint from inside, he would not be able to make an accurate diagnosis!.
