I had a wisdom tooth surgically removed 5 days ago. I'm having complications!

Question: I had a wisdom tooth surgically removed 5 days ago!. I'm having complications!.!.!.!?
I had my upper left wisdom tooth removed 5 days ago!. On the third day, a large piece of my blood clot came out, but it wasn't covering the hole, so it was okay!. Now the clot has gone deeper, which to me seems normal, but I'm still in quite a bit of pain whenever I don't take my pills!. I got up this morning and was looking at it with a dental mirror (I'm deathly afraid of dry socket), and I accidentally hit the area, which caused my mouth to start bleeding!. I tried the tea bag in the area to coagulate the blood hoping that this would help seal my clot better, but I couldn't handle the bitter taste!. My question is, after this long do I really need to be worrying about the clot, because it seems like more and more of it is falling out every day, or should it be healing by now!. If the blood clot were to fall out, how deep would the hole be, because I can't tell if I'm looking at bone, or my clot!. I have no way to get back to the dentist anytime soon, but I could maybe go to the ER if it is bad enough!. I just don't really know what I am looking for, and I don't like going to the dentist or doctor unless absolutely necessary!. Please help!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I used to be a Dental Nurse and what you are describing sounds normal!. The socket will have already starting healing from the bottom, the clot is coming out because there is no more use for it!. The socket will start 'granulating' which means healing from the inside and closing over, Dry sockets are rare and not the end of the world!. I have seen very few when I was practising!. If it does bleed, use compression with a wet pad of cotton wool, bite for about 10 minutes!. It will be sore for quite a while but in a week or two it will be better!.
Please stop worrying!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I got my wisdom teeth taken out on 11/21/08 and about three days later while brushing my teeth i accidently hit one of the sockets with my bristles and nothing happened!. I think at this point, you should be fine! Hope i helpedWww@Answer-Health@Com

I just got all four of my (impacted) wisdom teeth removed three days ago, plus a fifth tooth in the front of my jaw!.!.!. I'm dealthy afraid of dry sockets as well! :/

I would just take it easy in that area, and don't poke things at it or use a dental mirror anymore! If the pain becomes too unbearable, you'll know you have a dry socket -- until then, take it easy and relax!.

You're apparently supposed to be 70% back to normal after seven days, and you're at day five!. So, again, take it easy still!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
