JOE,
WHAT THE DENTIST MEANT W/O GETTING TOO COMPLICATED IN HIS EXPLANATION, IS REALLY KNOWN AS A PERIODONTAL POCKET!.
This is an area between the tooth and gum that allows plaque bacteria to get trapped and where bone loss around the tooth occurs, ultimately causing its loss!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I think it means your gums has formed a pocket around the top part of a tooth or tooths from where there was plaque right up against the gumline!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
