Is it common to vomit after a wisdom teeth extraction?!

Question: Is it common to vomit after a wisdom teeth extraction!?
I know I have heard of a few people who have, but I have a really strong stomach and I know people in my family have not gotten sick from anesthesia!. I have to get my wisdom teeth out probably this summer, and I hate throwing up so I was just wondering if that's usually the case when you're coming out and walking to the car!. Thanks!Www@Answer-Health@Com

No, vomiting is NOT common!. Ask you dentist whether you should eat first, but it is generally recommended that you should eat something before your surgery!. After your surgery stay in the waiting or recovery area awhile to make sure you feel ok before going to the car!. Don't expect to run and skip out to the car-- just walk slowly!. Also the comment about blood in your stomach-- well in surgery for one thing it really doesn't bleed that much, and for another thing the assistant is suctioning blood and saliva so you are not swallowing it!. After surgery you are biting on gauze pads, so again, you are not swallowing blood!. Some people feel nauseous just because they didn't eat anything and have low blood sugar plus they have been very nervous!. Since you say you have a strong stomach I think you sound like a very practical person!. Those people always do just fine!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

everyone suffers from different side effects from anesthesia and the wisdom teeth surgery itself!. My dad has very bad reactions to anesthesia and my mom is allergic!. I, however, didnt really have any side effects from the sedation when I got my wisdom teeth out this week!.

What did make me sick was the pain killers they put me on!. You cant take them on an empty stomach but after sedation and when in immense pain you dont have an appetite!. So i took the pills with a small amount of applesauce, as much as i could get down!. I ended up throwing up!.!.!. a lot!.

You also need to try to keep your head elevated when you are sleeping so that the blood from the sockets isnt swallowed!. This will def!. make you throw up as your stomach cant digest the blood!.

Anyhow, vomiting is a common side effect of wisdom teeth surgery!. But as i said, everyone has different reactions!. Hopefully your side effects will be minimal!. Good Luck!!!!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I had a different type of extraction, I didn't vomit when I woke up or went to the taxi, only maybe 2 hours after I got home I started to vomit!.

You may vomit who knows, sometimes it also happens cause you bleed a lot and the blood goes into your stomach and your body needs to expel it through vomiting!.

Sorry that was graphic!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Get well soon =]Www@Answer-Health@Com
