Hey Join the club!!! I got braces 5 days after my bday last month( Yeayyy) But it doesn't hurt at all!. If you are only getting top braces they first tell you what they are going to use, then they polish your teeth with this defoliating/ cleaning paste, they spray some solutuion that tastes like crap then put the glue on and then attach the brackets!. It Feels weird when put the arch wire in and colored bands!.!.!. That was my favorite part!! I still have my green and gold in but in February I get them in pink or another colour!.!.!.!.!.!. Good luck and don't think about them killing your teeth, They'll just be feeling achy and a slight bit of pain for 3-8 days, if so use advil or tylenol, and brush everyday!!!!!

Good Luck and dont freak out, My sister passed out when she got her braces and herbst appliance- she didnt eat bfast or lunch and was so nervous!.!.!. RELAX! You'll do great Jenna!

OH Mashed potatoes, soup ( NO CHILI b/c it gets caught)

when you first get them put on, they hurt like a ***** and make your teeth feel huge!. You can get some over-the-counter pain killers, and ask your orthodontist to prescribe something stronger if you're super sensitive to pain!. You'll probably feel uncomfortable for the first few weeks, and EVERY time you get them adjusted (but the pain wont last as long as it does the first time)!.

Stay far away from any hard or sticky foods (ie!. no hard candy or sweets, popcorn, and strictly NO GUM!) For the first few weeks, you'll probably want to eat a lot of soups and soft foods (NOT because these are the only things you can eat while you have braces, just because your teeth will hurt so much at first!)!. After the pain goes away, you can have pretty much anything you want, so long as you prepare it correctly (ie!. cut raw carrots into small peices, rather than trying to bite through the whole thing)Www@Answer-Health@Com

For the first few days, try not to eat any hard solid food!.!. Maybe porridge would be nice!. :) After that, you can eat usual stuffs!.!. but, remember, for the first week or two, it'll be good that you dont eat any hard food, like cookies!. As it'll be hard for you to chew!.

As for what to do, just brush your teeth regularly!. After you eat, it's good for you to brush your teeth and floss it immediately because if you're wearing ceramic braces, it might stain your ceramic piece(forgot the term, had mine 2 years ago) there!.

It doesnt hurt that much!. You will feel like your teeth is pressurize and might feel as if someone is trying to pull your teeth, but, dont worry, its not that bad for the first 2 hour!.!.!. but as time goes by, like, after 4 or 5 hours, you'll start to feel the pain as your teeth starts to shift!. Try to sleep, okay!? A reminder, its better for you to not take any painkiller as it'll slowerize your teeth shifting process!. a table or two would be okay, but if you take painkiller often, it'll be bad for your teeth shifting process!.

Since you're wearing braces, there'll be some ulcer on your lips since your braces might poke your lips!. So, use the petroleum gel thingy your ortho gave, and just stick it on those sharp edges!.

As time passes, believe me, the tightening process of the braces would be less painful each time as you'll get used to it!. First 2 months might be a little painful, but after that, it'll be fine!.

Thats all! Dont worry too much!

p/s: dont forget to brush your teeth! because if you dont plan for a teeth whitening after your done with your braces, it'll be super wise and important that you keep your teeth clean and floss! Because if not, there might be yellow-ish marks on your teeth!. My doctor told me that!. :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

The following recommendations will help to eliminate, or reduce, any oral health problems while your teeth are in braces: Brush your teeth carefully after every meal with fluoride toothpaste and a soft-bristled toothbrush, as food becomes easily lodged in the braces!. Floss daily between the teeth and the braces!. Maintain every 6 month cleanings by an oral health professional!. Limit your sugar and starch intake, as debris left behind from these types of foods may turn into damaging acids, which, in addition to promoting plaque formation, may also be harmful to teeth and gums!. Avoid hard and/or sticky snacks that may be difficult to remove from the orthodontic equipment in your mouth!. This includes foods such as popcorn, hard or chew candy, caramel, and/or nuts!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

they do ache quite a bit for the first day or so and then every 6 weeks when they get tightened theyl ache a little

things to eat today are
mash potato
soup

soft things like that
crisps are a no no
pizza - depends if its soft based pizza

get clear bands!
dont get a colour seriously
i made that mistake and it draws so much attention to them
ask for clear bands (theyl ask you to pick a colour) it makes them so much more descreteWww@Answer-Health@Com
