Question: Why won't the dentist let me keep my wisdom teeth that he pulled out!?
I had all 4 wisdom teeth pulled out today and I asked the dentist if I could keep them!. I was pretty medicated and don't exactly remember what he said, something about some law or something that won't allow it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

They pull them for many reasons!.You usually don't use them,because they are really far back in the mouth!.By the time food get to them it chewed up and ready to go down!.So you don't use them to chew!.In some cases the mouth is too small for them there is no space!.Since they have to come out,they start pushing on other teeth, causing overlapping and overcrowding!.In other cases they have so space to even come out,they come out half way causing all kinds of irritations and infections in the mouth!.I am wondering why didn't you ask this to your dentist when he told you that they have to be pulled!.Don't be afraid to ask questions when someone tells you he is gonna take part of your body away!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
I was in Dentistry for 25 yrs and don't remember any regulations(been ten yrs)but I would soak them in a cold sterilization and place them in a vial and require the patient not to let anyone hold or play with them!.I figured they are your body parts and belong to you!.Possibly I broke some rules but I feel it was just laziness on the part of the assistant!.I would place them in an ultrasonic cleaner,then cold sterilize them and the patient could have them on the follow-up exam!.This was especially important for deciduous(baby)teeth to give to the Tooth Fairy!.Do you still believe in the Tooth Fairy!?Www@Answer-Health@Com
They may have been in bits, because of how he had to remove them!.!.!.but I had all four of mine cut out, and they came home in a little manila envelope!.!.!.!.I was 16!.!.!.and that was more than a few years ago!.!.!.Can't imagine WHY you couldn't have your own teeth!.!.!.

Its because theyre worth a lot of money in asia for traditional medicines!. they grind them up and put them in potions!. Or i could be having a very wild guess !Www@Answer-Health@Com
