Trust me, you'd know if you had dry socket!. With dry socket, you would experience an enormous amount of pain!. Just be careful w/ the site!. It almost sounds like there was saliva mixed w/ blood!? Usually after 24 hours, you're good to go!. If you're still concerned, call your dentist!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

awww honey, sounds like you are going through the EXACT same thing I am going through!. I have just been to emergency and the doctor told me that my extraction site is severely infected and that "stringy" stuff is actually puss!.
Go buy some listerine mouthwash and make sure you rinse after each and every meal and beverage!.
As soon as you can, go see a doctor and get a script for some good pain relief and also some penecillin to clear the infected area!.
Good luck darlin'!.!.!.!. its not a pleasant thing is it!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Perhaps a gauze was left in the extraction site or cotton pellets!.In surgery I counted them placed(charted)and counted them being removed!.Happens all the time if Dr!. and Assistant aren't keeping track!.NuGauze is only placed for dry sockets and packed into the extraction site!.You should have a follow-up visit in 5-7days to remove sutures!.Hope you haven't developed a dry socket!.You will know by the smell and pain!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It's RARE getting dry socket and you would of had it shortly after surgery, Don't worry about it!.

As of stringy looking stuff coming out it's probably the stitches that didn't dissolve properly!. Ask someone to look in your mouth to make sure there is no string hanging that you may swallow!.

Good luck and take careWww@Answer-Health@Com
