Why do braces cost so much?!

Mine were free - as I live in the UK, and I was qualified for free orthodontist work on the NHS (but my teeth were well messed up, and I needed several operations as well as extensive brace work to correct it) - my jaw was slightly defrormed (my bottom jaw needed 1cm of bone removed from it (both sides) and my mouth was to small for all my teeth - to the point one started growing through the roof of my mouth!.

Braces are expensive, because they need to be correctly fitted to each person, the positioning of the brackets, to allow for pulling in different directions!. it is a very hard thing to do - and the manufactering of all the parts has to be done very carefully!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Mine were also free =] though mine really were not that bad , so basically anyone under 16 in the Uk with teeth that are not perfect get them free!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I looked at the answer below and saw what they wrote -- my teeth were fine but one tooth was growing completely out of place

The NHS pay for doctor and dental treatment if you are under 16 (doctor) or your teeth really need something doing to them << as far as i knowWww@Answer-Health@Com
