Loose teeth after braces come off?!

Question: Loose teeth after braces come off!?
I am an adult, who had braces for almost 2yrs!. I had them taken off about 3 weeks ago!. Some of my bottom front teeth are still slightly wiggly, is this normal!? I have been wearing my retainers every single night!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes its normal!. Some degree of mobility is expected after orthodontic treatment!. It will resolve by itself!. During the treatment your teeth were moved from there original position and this causes bone resorption on one side and bone deposition on the other!. As your teeth get used to their new place, bone will be deposited and periodontal ligament formed!. That is where your retainer comes in!. If you did not have that, then the teeth would just slide back to their old positions because they are not "cemented" yet!. So wear your retainer for as long as the dentist tells you otherwise you could compromise your treatment!.

I would still recommend that you tell your dentist about this!. In ALL orthodontic treatment some root resorption takes place!. In rare cases this progresses to such a degree that the teeth are left without proper support!. I'm not saying that this is the case with you, it's just that it would be good for you to rule out this scenario!.

Hope that helped!.

I haven't gotten mine off yet but I would think it's pretty normal!. I mean you had wires pulling your teeth and loosening them for two years so it will take a few weeks for your teeth to settle back into their new positions!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
