Question: Why does a large tooth filling irritate the pulp and cause pain!?
I had a large filling done on a lower molar awhile back and it has caused me sporadic pain in the jaw!. No decay shows up on the x-ray and the tooth isn't sensitive to pressure or overly sensitive to heat and cold!. The tooth and jaw just ache!. My dentist would like to do a root canal and I'm perfectly willing if it will stop the pain!. I'm just curious as to why a deep filling causes these problems, especially if no decay is involved!. Is it just the proximity to the nerve!? Sorry if this seems like a dumb question!. I forgot to ask while I was at the dentist's office!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I suspect the root or nerve in the canal is dying off or has been disturbed by the original procedure and that is why you are getting pain in the jaw!. The root canal filling sound the best suggestion to me, even if the nerve is OK I suspect the dentist is doing a preventative measure to stop your problem getting worse!. good luckWww@Answer-Health@Com
