Dentist is going to take out my filling, does it hurt?!

Question: Dentist is going to take out my filling, does it hurt!?
I have this REALLY BAD TOOTHACHE!.
Last time I went to the dentist, she filled all the cavities and then said that a filling had a cavity in it or something and when i come back in 6 months and it has grown then she'll have to take the filling out!.
Well, I didn't brush for about 3 days and then I woke up the next day to a really bad tooth ache!. I believe that my cavity grew!. So I will go to the dentist soon!. I'm just wondering if she takes out the filling, will it hurt!? I'm not sure what kind of filling it is but it's grey-ish and i can tell the cavity is pretty deep!. My tooth is really sensitive too!.
Also, whenever I get numb and she starts doing the filling, it still hurts! Even if my mouth is numb! So i can only imagine the pain I'll be in if she takes out my filling and starts filling the other cavity!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
I had a similar experience, where i had a large amalgam filling (the gray/silver filling you have) in my molar, and a cavity grew underneath the filling!.
I had to get an onlay for my molar!. An onlay is smaller than a crown, made out of porcelain, made to take the place of your tooth!. The dentist gave me an onlay because the molar was too decayed to just be patched up with another filling!.

This may be what will happen to you!. If you don't need a root canal (that's when a cavity goes so deep it affects your root), the dentist may either give you an onlay or a crown!. Crown is used if the tooth is too decayed for an onlay!.

The dentist will drill out the old filling (don't worry, it won't hurt because the dentist will numb you), then drill down the rest of your tooth into a certain shape!. Dentist will take a mold of your tooth, then give you a temporary onlay!. 2 weeks later, the dentist will replace the temp onlay with a real one, using a type of glue to glue the onlay onto your natural tooth!. I actually found the glue to hurt a bit =/Www@Answer-Health@Com

I just had some of my old fillings taken out and replaced!. My dentist was really gentle!. It never hurt during the whole procedure, or even when the freezing came out!. I can't wait to have the rest of my fillings drilled out and replaced!. Never felt a thing, the easiest procedure ever to have done!Www@Answer-Health@Com
