Root tip left behind after tooth extraction I just had an hour ago...?!

Question: Root tip left behind after tooth extraction I just had an hour ago!.!.!.!?
My dentist left a root tip (near to the sinus ), after extraction of my second to last tooth in the upper right side of my mouth!. He said that it should be alright but after 30+ minutes of trying to get it out he said it was so close to my sinus that it is better to leave it!. He said if I have no problem/pain etc!. then it should be okay but if I do have problems after the healing than I will need to see an oral surgeon!. Should I be concerned!? I am!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Your dentist told the right scientific fact, and as a rule up to 1/3 of the root can be left if fractured during extraction, specially if it is close to vital structures as maxillary sinus or main nerve trunk of the mandible, good antibiotic cover and following post extraction instructions is a determining factor, for more informtation, contact ahmadhashem41 at yahoo

I would absolutely not try to remove a root tip that was so close to the sinus floor, it might end up leaving a hole if they puncture or perforate the sinus wall!. I agree with your dentist, if it doesn't end up healing well or if you develop soreness, infection, or other problems then go to an oral surgeon to have a second opinion!. I have seen patients with root tips remaining because of problems like yours, sometimes they didn't even recall it was still there! So, let it heal and see how it goes!. You may be better off leaving it behind, for the sake of your sinus!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

This happened to me and the dentist denied he had left it there, because he was sooo arrogant in his own mind!. Here's what to do: tell the dentist that you know it's there (if u can see it and feel it would be more proof) and ask him to fix it!.

Hope this helped - as I hate dentists who make mistakesWww@Answer-Health@Com

This happened to me!Www@Answer-Health@Com

IF TRYING TO REMOVE IT IS MORE HARMFUL THAN JUST LEAVING IT IN, THEN FEAR NOT!.
ALL WILL BE WELL!. I'M SURE HE GAVE ANTIBIOTICS -TO BE SURE NO INFECTION OCCURS!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

IT'S SOMETIMES HAPPENED TO ME--AND THE PATIENT DID FINE!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I talked my dentist into leaving some in me, it wasn't worth the trouble it was giving getting it outWww@Answer-Health@Com

Well our mouths are all made diferently!. I would try your best to take a positive attitude about it and hope for the best!. I would think the gums will heal and that will be the end of it!. Its not the dentists fault really, although they do have xrays to look at and see what their dealing with!. You must do your part and let the area heal, no straws no smoking, light or liquid foods, ample rest!.If you dont do your part and the area has a problem, it may not be that tip of the tooth but you might think it is and spend a ton of money on having it taken out when it was fine, it was the stitches or blood clot that broke loose!. I have had dental problems most of my life, but this hasnt happend to me, I just know that I did not do the right after care, it caused me alot of pain and problems and dry socket too!. Good luck on that!. Make sure you ice as he said and heat if he said, reducing swelling is very important in healing!. Read these links the second one is good and there are many more!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
