Should a general dentist do a root canal,or should it be done by a endodontist,w!

Question: Should a general dentist do a root canal,or should it be done by a endodontist, what is the difference and is?
there more of a success rate with a endodontist?and a lower chance of it failing as they have more years of specialty training,or can a general dentist do the same?thanks

Answers:

A root canal specialist or endodontist has more training to do complicated situations. This usually means molar teeth since these teeth tend to have extremely complex root canal systems. Anterior teeth usually have one or two nerves that are relatively straight so most general dentists who choose to do root canals in their practice can handle these situations well. However, many general dentists who attend advance training courses can do just as good a job as an endodontist.

Either can do a successful Root Treatment. The only difference is that the Endodontist has studied for an extra 3 years or so to specialise in this area away from general dentistry.

I am a dental nurse in the UK

general can do the same, but an endodontist is a root canal specialist who does only that! so he would be better/ more experienced at it...if u can afford it it would be better.

I do all of my own endos. My success rate is high. You just have to pick someone who has a decent amount of experience. I am a general dentist

I am a dentist
