Does a root canal hurt?!

The tooth is numbed so yes injections are involved. The jaw usually aches after the root canal is done due to the length of time it takes to complete and you may have some soreness after from the injection and the trauma to the area.

I just had my first root canal today and I can say that it was not a big deal. The only thing that hurt was the very first injection and that didn't even hurt that much. But other than that, it was no biggie. As long as you are properly numbed up, you will be just fine :) It's okay to be a little nervous and curious about it. I've had a million fillings and 2 crowns and I honestly think those were more annoying than getting the root canal done.

Myself; just had first root canal today

i would say that if you need a root canal you might just want to have the tooth removed.
root canals sometimes don't and you end up having to get the tooth pulled anyways.
think about this,how long it took to pull that tooth. now think about all that drilling and rooting around in your mouth trying to dig out that root. what if he doesn't kill all the nerves in that tooth.

my own experience with a dentist

i had a root canal on my front tooth about a month ago, its much better then having a tooth out the after healing is quicker and pain free, i would have 5 root canals rather then one tooth out! just get it done i promise it will be fine and anything is better then tooth ache good luck x

the shots are uncomfortable but not painful. the procedure sucks but not painful also. its just really uncomfortable and a nuisance
