First of all, if you smoke or chew tobacco, that is most likely the cause. If you don't do either, and if you still have your wisdom teeth, this could be the culprit. (1) They may be hard to reach with the tooth brush and bits of food may get stuck back there causing the smell, which smells like rotting meat or poop to some people (2) If you've had your wisdom teeth for a long time, they could be rotting. Sometimes, the nerves will pull-back instinctively so as to avoid pain in your mouth, so you may not even know that they are rotting.
Another culprit could be that you don't brush your tongue. Your tongue should get just as much brush time as your teeth. Your teeth are basically marinating in saliva and germs, so really, your whole mouth needs to be brushed, even the insides of your cheeks, at least twice a day and flossing at least once a day.
It could also be from when you burned your mouth with hot pizza. When that happens, you have bits of dead skin in your mouth and it can burn taste buds, causing food to not taste the same. The skin will decay, and the bad taste/smell will go away as your mouth heals.
If you feel that none of these are the source, if I were you, I'd go see a dentist. It could be Gingivitis. If a dentist rules that out, DEFINITELY see a doctor. I would totally be worried about squishy/spongy gums! That is not a normal thing. It could be a medication you recently took, but if you haven't taken any medication, it could be something more insidious. (Like Diabetes, not enough nutrition in your diet, or even cancer...)

First off I would invest in a tongue scrapper.
Bad breath often lingers around your tongue and brushing isn't always enough.
Second you should go see a dentist because you may have gingavitus.
(Sorry for mispellings... on my phone and it's hard to type)
Im in the same predicament, its either Gingivitis, or Periodontitis.

you might need to get your toncils removed.sometimes they are the reason for bad breath
You might have tonsil stones. If you squeeze your tonsils, do white "rocks" come out?
WHAT DID YOU EAT! maybe you suffer from badbreatharitus
