It stimulates saliva production.
It doesn't; that's just a scam to sell gum. In theory any chewing increases saliva production which does clean your mouth a little, but it's mostly BS. The gum companies are just struggling to find an excuse to make people buy their product again, since it used to be fashionable, but now it's not.
