Medicaid orthodontists are few and far between, it's a losing game for them on every level. I think there's only 2 or 3 in the whole state of NC, which means a long trip and/or out of town for monthly ortho visits. You may have to be proactive and take it upon yourself to do some research and find one, set up an appt then hopefully your mom can take you. Or wait until your 16, then you can drive yourself to and from.

Re: answer #1 - Medicaid dentists are plenty, but you need an orthodontist.

One place your mom can start looking is a nearby dental school. Many dental schools have orthodontics departments and accept Medicaid for payment. Unfortunately, not every state has a dental school and ones that do usually only have one or two, so you may have to travel a bit if you don't live near one of these schools.

I'm not sure what state you live in, but you might want to google the term "dentists who accept medicaid in (your state here)." You can get more detailed information specific to your state that way. For example, North Carolina has this really nice list of dentists who accept Medicaid: http://www.ncdhhs.gov/dma/dental/dentalp…

Good luck! Braces work best when you're younger, so you're doing the right thing by being proactive now.

Hello,
May be your mom is too busy. You can help. This is what you can do:
1) Get the list of the dentist close to you. You can use the phone book or Google maps (enter your zip code and the word "Dentist")
2) Call each Orthodontist to see if they accept medicaid.
3) If they do, ask them if your case is qualified. Normally, they want to see you first before they can tell you.
4) Give your mom the list to see which one she prefers before making the first appointment.
5) If you can't find an Orthodontist that will accept medicaid, then call the regular dentist to see if anyone who accept medicaid will also do Orthodontic works. Give your mom this list. It might take sometimes.
6) A lot of time you can see the ad on yellow page about the dentist's service. Whether they accept medicaid or not, etc.

Good luck.
