How can I raise my chances of getting accepted to dental school if I am a sophom!

Question: How can I raise my chances of getting accepted to dental school if I am a sophomore with a 2.89 overall GPA?
It is my first semester of my sophomore year in college and I have an overall GPA of 2.89. After doing some research I found that the average GPA of students who get accepted into dental school is a 3.5. My greatest dream is to graduate from dental school so that I can live the rest of my life helping others the way I have been helped. I know I have to raise my GPA to increase my chances of getting accepted. What advice would you give me?

Your grades are likely too low to be able to get into dental school right now: most professional schools have a 3.0 cutoff, and even then don't start accepting students until 3.5 or 3.6. You may need to go back and retake the classes which you got the worst grades in to bring your GPA back up. Additionally, you are going to need to start getting A's and A-'s in every class you take from now on. It's possible: you just have to study a lot, ask questions in class, and seek help if you don't completely understand what you're doing. It's not going to be very easy, but you can do it.

You need to have excellent grades from this point forward. When you get to the time when you go on interviews to different schools you can show them that you have been taking school very seriously and you intend to be a dedicated student in dental school.
You will also need a good score on your DAT. I advise you to take a Kaplan course for the DAT. Your score will increase by at least a point if you work really hard.

Well you are bearly a sophomore so you have time to improve your GPA. I would suggest trying to study harder or going for tutoring. Also, try to do things that would make you stand out from other applicants or do something that is inspiring GOOD LUCK :)
