Pain after root canal?!

Question: Pain after root canal?
I had root canal on my tooth a week ago and it still hurts. Its not really painful, more like a dull ache right in the tooth. It also hurts a little if I bite down hard on it. Is this normal or should I ring the the dentist? As I said, it is not really painful but enough to have to take a couple of a paracetamol.

Hello
I would avoid eating on that side for a few days. I have had 2 root canals and both did hurt abit afterwards for a while. I had 2 appointments, one for the actual root canal and another one 2 weeks later to have a permanent filling put in it. When they done my first root canal, it was badly infected and it did hurt for a few days while the infection got better. Once all infection had gone( after an x ray to check) I had it filled properly. Do you have another appointment in a week? They will x ray your tooth then to check all infection has gone. If you have already had your 2nd appointment and the tooth is either crowned or has a filling and it still hurts in say one more week, I would go back and have another x ray to check there is still no infection in the root canal. I am guessing it will get better with time as mine did.

If you have only had the first stage of the root canal and it was badly infected, the pain would be from the infection and it should get less and less as the infection dies off. My dentist put stuff inside my tooth that killed the infection off.

Hope that helps

myself as I have had 2 root canals that ached after for a while.

If after a week it is still hurting then a phone call to your dentist will probably be your best bet.

But normally root canals have a temporary plug to start with and a follow up visit to replace it with something more permanent once it has settled down so there may already be a follow up appointment booked.

I've had this problem! Gargle with hydrogen peroxide, then wait for a minute to sizzle! Wash with water! Do not eat so much candy, sweets, junk food. After I had my tooth pooled out, the dentist did there best to get me to take antibiotics! Antibiotics are poison chemicals! They want to prescribe drug to people so they may get paid! They were upset for a long time because I refused to not take there stuff! Go see a dentist! However, do not take pain pills or there antibiotics! Makes things worse! Go to a dentist quick though!

Book, experience.
