Why is second molar shifting after braces?!

Question: Why is second molar shifting after braces?
I had braces on top and bottom teeth for a year. Have had wisdom teeth removed. Braces came off six months ago. I have not been very good wearing my retainer. Last week I sensed some jaw pain and today I noticed that my second molar on my lower right has started to shift outward. Why are they moving? Will wearing my retainer help this?

Hello,
You need to wear your retainer. Retainer is an appliance that you need to wear after remove braces to maintain the position of all your teeth. Without retainer, your teeth will move back to it's original position. You need to wear retainer until the bone around your teeth at new location become strong and stable.

Also, if you leave retainer out for long time, it will not fit because some teeth may have moved.
