Does getting a cavity fixed make it stop hurting?!

Question: Does getting a cavity fixed make it stop hurting?
In my back moral I have a cavity and it's been hurting alot especially when I eat. I'm going on vacation this weekend and I don't want it to hurt then, so tomorrow I'm going to get it fixed at the dentist. Will that make it feel better to where I can eat normally?

Hi
Sometimes when you have a tooth filled after it has been aching awhile it really stirs it up, and the pain continues or intensifies, talk to the dentist and tell them the tooth has been playing up,they will usually put a sedative dressing/ or a different base under the filling to settle things down, I would still take some pain Relief away on your trip, so that you enjoy yourself.

the reason the dentist fills it is so that the pain stops. of course your tooth will feel better once a professional has dealt with it. but until then, try not to breathe in too heavily, make sudden jerky movements with your head, or bite down on anything too hard. that may reduce the pain a small amount until your procedure.

It can make your tooth feel better. It all depends on the depth and severity of the cavity. Some cases require root canals, others just a simple cavity routine. The dentist will take care of your tooth and let you know specifically what is going on.
