Opinions please - Wisdom teeth! :(?!

Question: Opinions please - Wisdom teeth! :(?
I went in this morning for oral surgery to remove all four wisdom teeth. I woke up and walked out at 11am. So I've been out of surgery for over 7.5hours and my tongue and bottom lip are still numb. What are my chances of this being permanent? :( How long does it usually take for all of it to ware off?

You need to give it longer than 7.5 hours.....chances are, you are swollen from the surgery and that is putting pressure on your nerve. You just had major surgery to your mouth, so give it some. If after a couple days you feel nothing, then contact your oral surgeon to let him or her know. If you feel anything, anything at all (hot, cold, pinch, slight pressure), then I wouldn't be worried at all. It could take a couple days for you to get full sensation back or it could take 6 + months. More than likely, it'll only be a couple days to a couple weeks. It took me nearly 3 weeks to get all the feeling back in my lower chin, lip, and teeth. My teeth were difficult to remove because I'm much older and my teeth had grown very close to my nerve. If you are young, (late teens - early 20's), then chances are, you'll be fine and you'll be back to normal before you know it!

There is a small chance of a permanent numb feeling after oral surgery which is why they have you sign a release form. It could just be that your anesthetic hasn't worn off though. The more active you are, the quicker it will wear off. It isnt' good for you to be active though after an extraction because that also gets your blood flowing. Usually people are only numb for a few hours.

It takes around 4-5 days for traces of numbness to completely disappear. No chance of it being permanent. Everything naturally heals by itself. Do not take medicine or anything!
