What should i expect from wisdom teeth extraction...few questions plzz?!

Question: What should i expect from wisdom teeth extraction...few questions plzz?
Ive been having a bad sinus headache for almost 2 months now, that is caused by my wisdom teeth i was told about 8 months ago by my dentist, i put it off till now and Im calling tmrw to make an apointment to have them removed asap..finally. So im wondering, what should i expect from it? How long does the face swelling last usually? a few days or more? and can i ask my dentist for a prescription for pain medication? because a few years back they told my sister to just take Tylenol and it didnt do much...i have a low pain tolerance. Anything else i should expect from it?
thanks so much in advance..

Answers:

First, after having them removed, put ice packs in your jaws. This will minimize swelling. Do not use straws to drink, and, do not drink carbonated beverages. Swelling will probably be about 2 days if you follow the dentists instructions. Ask your dentist for tylenol with codeine. OH, don,t rinse or spit the first day. the second day rinse with warm salt water. Good luck.

Remember everything your dentist tells you about taking care of it. Be extremely care full with what you eat after, if you don't clean out the sockets after eating, you could develop dry socket-I had it for a month after I had my wisdom teeth pulled, I was in so much pain!!! If you do develop pain after wards, clove oil helps, at Walgreen's there is a little dental tooth ache kit that contains clove oil that helped me; it helped to deal with the pain.

Are they already out or are they impacted? Mine were impacted so they cut them out of my gums. The pain honestly isn't that bad. They gave me vicoden and ibuprofen, and I only used the vicoden once or twice when the pain was worse than usual. I was swollen for like 3-4 days after. The part that sucks the most is the first day when you're all numb and have to keep gauze in your mouth to stop the bleeding. A lot of people are back to normal only a couple days after the surgery, so don't worry about it too much :)
