How would you honestly feel about a male dental hygienist?!

As a male dentist a male hygienist would be fine .It all depends on the personality and quality of treatment provided . Male or female is irrelevant

Hello...Male hygienists are far more prevalent in the military than anywhere else. There are no surveys that indicate a male or female hygienists is more capable than the other and I doubt that could be shown to be the case. While it's true that there are some dentist who have a bias towards male hygienists, it's also true that female staff for some dentist is seen as a status symbol....There was a time when the private word going around was that the success of a dentist office was described as it being an "X" number of Mini Skirts Office...The more mini skirts the more successful the office...and unfortunately that very often had to be figured into the fees charged for dental sewrvices....Goodness knows an excess of mini skirts runs up the overhead. Send out your resume and see what happens, there are many offices that don't care about your gender, they just want competent staff. Good luck and I wish you well.

It wouldn't bother me personally.

I do know that the dentist that I used to work for refused to hire any male dental assistants. Of course he would never let anyone outside of the employees know that but he did discriminate when we were looking for a new dental assistant.

As a woman I would have no problem with this. I have had male nurses before so I don't see the difference. As long as they do their job and don't nag me about flossing too much. I am perfectly fine when they are giving me tips on good flossing and brushing techniques, but when they tell me I need to be only drinking water and brushing 3 times a day I start to roll my eyes and it makes me want to find a new dentist.

I would like it, especially if he was hot!!

My dentist is a guy and it doesn't bother me at all...I don't think the workplace is allowed to discriminate against genders so I can't see any reason why someone wouldn't hire a man to be a hygienist! =]

This is the 21st century. Male, female, black, white, it's all the same to me.

Who cares what gender they are just so long as they can do what they are supposed to do, and do it well.

I wouldn't care either way. My opinion of doctors (and other medical personnel) depends entirely on the service they provided me. If it's good, I don't care if you're a Martian in disguise - that's your personal business.

I would prefer a female but I am sure there are females that wouldnt mind the male hygienist. in the end it doesnt really matter I dont think
