How do they fix a tooth that has already been filled?!

Question: How do they fix a tooth that has already been filled?
My jaw has been hurting and I noticed that my last tooth on top in the back hurts when I stick floss between it so I plan on going to the dentist....BUT I also noticed that on my bottom tooth in the back On the side of my tooth has a small little dip with a littl dark spot on it. Its sensative to touch I figure its a cavity. That tooth has already been filled and the dark spot is on the side of my tooth...How would the dentist fix that...Im a little scared they will pull my tooth.

They will drill out the decay in the new area and place a filling. You can have two fillings on the same tooth. Pulling out your tooth is usually the last resort. Good Luck :)

No, they can put in a larger filling, a second filling, a multi-side filling, even a root canal and crown if necessary. They rarely have to pull a tooth.

Used to work for a dentist.
