braces just have brackets that stick to each tooth then an arch wire is weaved through all of them the wire can be bent so no need for a mold, the force of the wire returning to its original position pulls the teeth along with it giving you a mouth of straight teeth
They will sometime do impressions the day they put braces on. When you get them off they take another impression for your retainer. sometimes schedule the first visit to do records(pictures of your teeth before in different angles, x-ray of your whole head to show a profile view of your jaws/teeth coming together, then impressions. Then the next viist is for braces. Then some offices do all that in one visit. Just depends on how their office does things.

What do you mean mold you dont need that to put on your braces or probably you dont need it for such a long time
i think that is only for invisalign or after your treatment when you get a retainer.
He will probably call you in about a week before you get your braces. If not, I recommend talking to him about it.
