Yeah that's true that clenching can cause spontaneous pain. Good job Ms. Peanut.

Other causes include gum disease, decay, nighttime grinding, etc...

You can try to see if wearing a bite guard overnight helps. I'd definitely visit the dentist if you haven't gone for your regular check ups.
