I have a loose tooth?!

Question: I have a loose tooth?
So I have a receding gum line on a tooth on the lower left side of the mouth. the tooth is in between my front bottom teeth and very back teeth. The gum line has been receding for a while now (since last august) and it is visible to where I can see a notch where the gum should cover and also what appears to be my jaw (the gum has receded approx 4-5mm?) I can now wiggle the tooth back and forth a bit. It is worrying me.

Has anyone ever had this problem before? How did you treat it? Did you go to a dentist? What did they diagnose it as? Was it expensive?

This is the only tooth that I have like this. I take good care of my teeth. I brush twice and floss daily. I don't want to lose this tooth. I fear that an implant would cause a lot of complications and would not be as good as the real deal.

Thank you for your time.

P.S. I have a dentist appointment set for next wednesday. I would have done this sooner but I have only just been able to purchase a dental discount plan with no waiting period.

P.P.S.
I suspect that the recession is due to aggressive brushing so I've been trying to brush more gently in a circular motion. But I have to make sure to brush the recessed part of the tooth because I believe it is more susceptible to decay because it lacks the enamel to protect it because it is actually supposed to be protected by the gum, which is recessed.

Answers:

the tooth you are talking about is the PREMOLAR.
this tooth is on the angle of the mouth so aggressive brushing always causes gum recession in this area.
use a soft brush for brushing and keep the bristles of the brush on the gumline, press till the bristles bend and move the brush away from the gums.do this atleast 5 times.
this will help in gum massage and effective cleaning.
