If I had no tooth enamel I would know that right?I am 32yrs old Also are root ca!

Question: If I had no tooth enamel I would know that right?I am 32yrs old Also are root canals, cavities rare at this age?
I have had braces when I was 10 for 3-4 yrs.
I then had 2 root canals 3 yrs back and one cavity filled.

Now this month I had to get a new crown for the old root canal and 2 more cavities filled.
Somebody mentioned maybe I was born without tooth enamel which freaked me. I mean wouldnt I know if that was the case by now?

My mouth xrays were all fine and no more cavities and problems and dentists didnt mention anything about no enamel etc.

Please help me calm down, is this too much dental work at this age? My mom and her mom had bad teeth also.

Answers:

You would definitely know if you were born without tooth enamel. It would hurt your teeth to eat, drink, and even breathe. You may just have a calcium deficiency that's showing through in your teeth. Root canals are actually very common around your age and older.

Honestly this isn't that much dental work. If you were born without enamel you would have far more problems than that. Most of the time root canals will need to be re-treated, that is normal. Your dentist can tell you if you have enamel if you are really worried about this. But most of all, I recommend you don't go a day without flossing which has the biggest effect on cavities.

I've heard of people in this age range needing root canals. Genetics do affect you, but with proper dental hygiene and routine maintenance you should be able to prevent things from getting too bad. Just remember to brush and floss your teeth at least twice daily and go to the dentist every six months for cleanings and check-ups.

There is no such thing as no tooth enamel. Besides, your problems have nothing to do with enamel. You just have bad tooth genes. However, I'd suggest you to look for a good and conscientious dentist. Because some of them just want you to spend money on something that's no big deal.

I'm your age, and I recently went to a periodontist. After examination, he told me I need surgeries for my other problems and wisdom teeth removal! I agree with the surgeries, but wisdom teeth removal? Maybe not. I'm 32 already, and my teeth are fine, why on earth do they want to remove the wisdom teeth now? Does it affect anything if I just leave them as they were?

Just giving you an example, that some dentist would be happy to do something to you that is not important at all. It is easy money for them.
