Question: Braces and the clarinet?
so ive been playing the clarinet for a while & im getting braces now. firstly, can you play the clarinet with braces? if u can what r some ways to keep ur braces from irritating ur bottom lip? secondly, when i get my braces off can putting my two front teeth on the mouth piece mess them up again? because i dont want to spend $5,000 onbraces & then they get messed up again. pleez help me!!

Yes, I played the clarinet with braces for about... 3-4 years, and it is possible. Put wax on the braces next to your lower lip; over time, you will get used to playing clarinet with braces.

When you get the braces off, you will get a retainer, which you will have to put on when you're *not* playing clarinet (unless, of course, your retainer is permanent), which will keep your teeth in place. I use a retainer currently - don't worry about this right now; wait until you finally get the braces off.
