IN SERIOUS PAIN...INFECTION OR FILLING?!

Question: IN SERIOUS PAIN...INFECTION OR FILLING?
I seem to have gotten my teeth into a mess.....:(:(:(

Firstly, I haven't been to the dentist in ages- 5 years to be exact!! I just have a phobia. Okay so I have had hole in my upper back tooth for about a year and it has slowly gotten bigger, I knew i needed a filling but it never hurt so I put it iff. Now though my jaw on that side is really hurting everytime I move it. And a few days ago it was hurting more than ever and so was the actual tooth, (never did before) so assuming it was an infection I took some leftover antibiotics my sister had (also for a tooth infection). The 2nd day of taking them I was in hell!! My tooth hurt more than ever, was almost in tears. But the very next day the tooth stopped hurting altogether!! Hurray!! Not really. Well, now it seems the pain has now moved direction to my bottom front teeth!!

It is constantly throbbing and feels like that horrible feeling you get when you eat something cold. Its really horrible. On close inspection I can see a small gap between the two teeth which are hurting which wasnt there before. So I think I need a filling there...Im not sure. But...I have one of those permanent wires there.

So my questions, are the two pains in different teeth connected? Did I make it worse taking the antibiotics? If it is a filling in the front teeth, will they have to remove the wire? And will they put the wire back over the teeth once they put a filling there? you see, as a kid I was told I couldnt get a wire at the back of my FRONT teeth too because I had a filling there and they couldnt put a wire over a tooth with a filling (why?)....

Oh no!!! Am I going to have bent teeth once again? Or will I have to get a retainer to keep them straight? And how much is all this going to cost? WHAT A MESS!!! I am 23 and live in england by the way. I have an appointment on Monday. And yes I eat a lot of chocolate....:(:( Seriously regret letting it get this bad.

Well I would suggest that you spend today Friday trying to find a dentist to sort out the mess you are in. This would be wise simply because the weekend emergency provision is difficult and you do not need to be trying to find treatment as this situation gets worse.

You have not taken a complete course of antibiotics and this has not helped. The type of antibiotic you took may or may not be relevant to dental infections. How do you know? But someone left over antibiotics do not give you a full course of treatment over five days.
It is a risky stupid thing to do but please for your own sake when you see the dentist be honest and tell him what you have done so he does not give you the same ones.

Anyway antibiotics do not solve the issue as you need a root canal treatment after the antibiotics.

As for wires and retainers you are to old for NHS orthodontics and would have to pay for treatment, but need to have good dental health for any orthodontist to think it worthwhile treating you.
