Question: Do Americans understand the difference between dental health and cosmetics?
They seem to think that crooked teeth equals unhealthy. Americans think Europeans have worse teeth because there are more of us with a few crooked teeth. No that is not the case we have great dental care we just don't see the need for going into debt to give our kids a cosmetic procedure. You can have healthy crooked teeth as long as the bite is ok and you can have perfect straight teeth full of cavities. They also think all that whitening means healthy teeth when yellow teeth are probably more healthy because they haven't had all the enamel stripped off with bleach.

A lack of understanding behind the reasons for orthodontics does not in fact make Europeans superior to Americans in the realm of dentistry.
Another point to answer your rant is that enamel is not damaged during the bleaching process. You may not understand how peroxides work. Peroxides are highly reactive molecules. When they break down they release an oxygen radical which easily passes through the enamel. It interacts with proteinaceous deposits in the dentin to whiten the tooth. There is no damage done to the tooth.

i disagree. i had my teeth straightened to make sure i kept them for my enter life. i care little for whitening. braces cost my about $3500. worth every penny. so you speak for all of europe?
