Should I pull four teeth to get braces?!

Question: Should I pull four teeth to get braces?
My teeth stick out a little, making my lips stick out, which makes me look strange from the side. My orthodontist says I have the choice of whether I want to pull four teeth (two top two bottom) to make me look better from the side. Should I do that or not?

Yes, most people need to have that done with braces, pretty common.

It depends on your age. Your mouth isn't done growing yet if you are a child or a teenager. If you wait until you are older it's very likely you won't need any teeth pulled and you can get the teeth straightened then. If you haven't had the wisdom teeth out yet then definitely wait because that will give you more room in your mouth. Contrary to popular belief it isn't harder to straighten teeth when you are older unless you have an underbite or crossbite. I think it's quite silly to pull out healthy teeth just for a cosmetic reason.

I had 4 teeth removed over 3 months ago. The two were baby teeth and there have been no outward signs of growth :I
However, I highly recommend you to listen to your doctor and get those extractions--It takes time for it to come together but it is definitely worth the wait and the money.

I would trust his trained opinion.
