invisalign vs braces?!

Question: Invisalign vs braces?
I heard invsialign doesnt move your teeths roots, so your teeth will get uneven again. Is this true? What happends after your invisalign treatment? do you wear retainers or something? Feel free to post your experience with either.

No, Invisalign does move the rooths too, just not as fast as traditional braces do. With Invisalign, just like braces, after your done your treatment you will need to wear the retainers to get the roots to stay in the place and harden in the position. If you don't, then regardless of the type your straighten your teeth, they will move back to the normal position. Invisalign is more work, as you have to wear it for 20-22 hours a day and need to take it out to eat and drink. After you eat you have to brush and floss your teeth and tray, otherwise you will get cavities and stains. Braces are technically better as they can fix more problems than Invisalign can. You can't fix your bite that well with Invisalign and it is only for minor changes. Also Invisalign isn't as invisible as they say it is. You will need attachments which are tooth colored bumps and yes you can see them. They are usually really close to your front teeth.

My bottom treatment ended yesterday and all that happened was that they removed the attachments with a buffer and then places a metal wire retainer in and I can still wear the clear retainer. For the first three months I have to wear it the same as I did for the braces, so the 20-22 hours a day and then after that I can slowly cut back the hours. I don't think I will get to the point of just wearing it at night in the near future as those who do that fast after their braces, their teeth usually go back to the past position.

Invisalign can move the roots of the teeth if the doctor plans the treatment properly. We have completed treatment with extractions and severe spacing, showing x-rays with parallel roots after treatment. http://www.torontobraces.ca/beforeafter/

Many Invisalign providers and the public often comment on the limitations of Invisalign treatment to basic treatment. They believe that aligners are only good for correcting minor problems, while braces are better and required for more difficult treatments. A few providers will tell you that they have corrected severe crowding, severe spacing, severe rotations, class 2 malocclusions, class 3 malocclusions, open bites, cases requiring extraction, and even used Invisalign in conjunction with jaw surgery. So, why the discrepancy?

The answer is that the scope of what experienced providers can do with Invisalign is greater than that of those that are less experienced. They may use attachments, IPR, buttons, elastics, and movements, in conjunction with sections of partial braces to achieve the desired results. Unfortunately, this group of experienced doctors providing excellent Invisalign treatment is a small percentage of those out there that are certified to provide it.

I travel nationally to teach Invisalign to dentists and orthodontists for Align Technology.

all braces do some measure of moving your tooth roots. Think about it. If it moved the crown of your tooth but not the root... your tooth would be broken and fall off.

After ANY orthodontics you will be given a retainer to wear. Some you wear nightly. Some are cemented onto the backs of your teeth.

Invisalign has some limitation as to what it can move but all ortho is so worth it!

ya invisalign is more cosmetic they are clear. and braces you have the wires and bands and brackets and what not. the only thing you can see for invisalign is the buttons they have to put on your teeth which helps move the teeth.
and yes both do move the teeth! and both are great! its just a personal preference.
sometiems reg. braces takes longer than invisalign.
and like all braces reg or invisalign you do wear a retainer after treatment! or they will go back to what they were. you would go from wearing them all the time an than at night.
i think that invisalign is an amazing way to straighten ur teeth!

Invisalign is for cosmetic straightening and works best if only the front teeth are crooked. It doesn't fix a bad bite or severely crooked teeth but other than that it does work like other braces. You still need to wear a retainer or keep using the last set of trays at night or they will go back.

I'd just go with braces. I have a friend who has visaline and he says they're very annoying because you have to take them out whenever you eat or drink something.
