Answers:

Okay.

1. This is how it went for me.
1. Cleaned my teeth
2. She took one of those plastic retainers and glued brackets on them
3. She put glue on my teeth
4. She took the plastic retainer thing and put it on my teeth.
5. She tightened them and shone this light on my teeth to dry the glue (this is prob confusing for you but I couldn't see what she was doing at this part, so I myself don't even know for sure but it went something like this)
6. Did the same thing on the top
7. I don't know how she put the wires in but she probably opened up the brackets and somehow got the wire in. Like I said, I don't know for sure because I couldn't see what she was doing.
8. Then she gave me floss, tools to clean my teeth.

2. It didn't hurt to get them on, but it really starts to hurt after a couple of hours and lasts for 3 - 5 days. I recommend taking lots of Advil and using ice packs. On a scale of 1 - 10 on how much it hurts, I'd say and 8 1/2 but it's different for everyone.

4. Sorry, I don't know the answer to your last question, but I hope I helped anyway!

P.S The orthodontist will probably give you this wax to put on wires and hooks that are poking you cheek, and this is really helpful. You will also have to eat a lot of softer foods such as..

1. Jello
2. Pudding
3. Mashed Potatoes
4. Rice
5. Noodles
6. Soup

I have had braces for like 3 days now!

Ok...
1. They put on braces, annoying for roughly a week then you get used to them, sometimes they make you wear elastics, not bad
2. Only when you get them on or get a new wire put on (both hurt for a day, roughly)
3. On a scale, probably 4, because not cool, but they don't really hurt or anything
4. Around 1 or 2, give or take

have them

I've had more than my fair share of braces and other stuff like that, so I think I can answer this fairly well.
usually they start by examining your teeth (which they probably have already done). Then they usually use a special putty-thing to take a mold of your teeth. Basically the slide in a metal tray with some putty-stuff which sits for a minute and makes a mold. Then they use this to make the braces. usually you will get your braces a few weeks after they make the mold of your teeth. Then they will gently clean of your teeth and remove the moisture from the surface with a little fan-thing (this sounds a lot scarier than it is). They just dry off your teeth so the glue will stay. Then they put a small amount of cement-glue stuff on each tooth, and place the little metal brackets (square-sih parts) on your teeth. Then they use a special light to dry the glue in place and slide the wire into the brackets. Then they trim the end of the wires so they don't poke you. Usually this part isn't too bad. Occassionally you might get poked or prodded, but it doesn't really hurt. Then you are basically done! The whole thing takes between 30 minutes and an hour at most. Getting the braces placed on doesn't hurt, but sometimes after getting the braces on your teeth n=and mouth can be a tiny bit sore. From experience I recommend taking some painkillers right away (Advil works best for me). This helps a lot! If you can, try to have soft foods for the next day or so, like mashed potatoes or soup. Your teeth will probably hurt for a few days after because your teeth don't want to move, but this goes away quite quickly and is completely manageable (especially with something like Advil). I don't think I can rate it on a scale of one-to-ten because it is worse in the beginning, but it quickly gets better and is barely noticeable with painkillers.
For a slight overbite my best estimate would be about two years, but this changes depending on your age and the severity of the overbite.
Don't worry, braces aren't as bad as most people think and you will get used to them very quickly. They may be a little sore at the beginning, but this will stop before you know it. Trust me, the braces are worth it for a beautiful smile!

personal experience!

its been a good 6 or 7 years since i had braces,but..i dont remember it hurting much at all,i went to Gentle Dental..they do xrays, maybe some gum graphic if you need it,if not, some molds of your teeth using this clay **** you bite into that almost gafs you but your fine , it passes..the pain was on like a 2-3 depending on your pain tolerance..
