Yes they are, for the first couple days or so. By the end of atleast 1 week of having them, you'll forget they are even there :-)

I am confused about the 'getting them off in the weekdays' part, because they GLUE the braces to your teeth, and you have them for a few years, depending on the situation..

Yes they will hurt for a few days, but the pain is not that bad. Also they will hurt every time you get them tightened (every 4-7 weeks).

You wont have trouble eating, the only thing you'll find is that foods often get stuck in between the braces.

I hope this helps!

When you first get your braces on, it won't hurt, however, on the second day you will start to feel some discomfort due to the braces beginning to work. Your teeth will begin to be pulled into the directions that the braces have been tightened to. It will hurt for a few days but will stop hurting after 4-5 days. Braces only hurt when they are tightened & your dad is right, you will need to eat softer things around this time because something as simple as cereal can be difficult to eat due to soreness. But you can resume to eating harder stuff after the soreness has passed. :)

Had braces for 2 years

they usually hurt when you first get them on & when you get them tightened at scheduled intervals. You're dad's right about you having to eat soft foods when you first get them, your dentist will tell you the other things you cannot eat. You'll get used to them after a few weeks and you'll be glad you had em once it's time for them to come off.

My little bro & my uncle had em for several years apiece

I myself have braces for more than 2 yearsr now since im a class 3.Yes they are uncomfortable in your first week or so until your jaw has gotten used to it. When you feel pain in your teeth then maybe you have to eat soft foods those once easy to be teared by your teeth.
you can't eat ice cream/yogurt? weird i ate ice cream the day after i got my braces.

Yes, they are very uncomfortable when you go get them tightened. But they're not uncomfortable all the time. It might take you a few days to get used to them, but when you do you will be able to eat almost anything. It's all worth it in the end.

yeah, its uncomfortable and really irritating at first but you'll get used to it. Don't it anything hard no matter how much you want to. Restrain yourself for less pain.

thay hurt a little but not bad they bother u alot i geting braces to my friend has braces so she told me how there like

very. but it pays off in the end

Well about a couple hours after your dentist puts them on they will begin to feel sore and hurt and you'll also feel a little bit uncomfortable ( like it will feel wierd on your teeth and you'll probably have a slight lisp afterwards, but nothing major), but the real pain comes the 1-3 days after you get them put on. So just make sure before you go in to get your braces to take some tylenol, motrin, etc. so you won't feel that much pain during the school day. As far as the food situation goes, you could bring pudding, a smoothie, something that's just real easy to eat and nothing too hard on your braces. Best of luck to you! (:
