For England: How much does it cost to go to the Dentist's in England?!

Question: For England: How much does it cost to go to the Dentist's in England?
Even if you are on NHS, you have to pay. I am right? How much? Are there any fixed rates?

Answers:

You have not specified what treatment you are querying the prices for? A check up if free, a filling can be from £15 to £40 depending on how large it is, a scale & polish is around £10.75, crowns and veneers are priced individually by most NHS dentist but range from £40-£100, the max cost for a treatment price on NHS is £358.00 no treatment costs can go above that ever on NHS. If you get loads of fillings, crowns, veneers etc the most you can pay is £358.00 . Private dentists can charge whatever they want .

I am a dental nurse in Scotland, UK

You only pay if you need treatment, a check up is free. It's free for any treatment if you fit into certain categories, if you are a student in full time education (school, college, university), if you are over the age of 65, if you are unemployed and claiming benefits or on disability, etc.

edit: This is the case for Scotland, i'm assuming it's the same in England.

there are 3 cost bands details here http://www.nhs.uk/AboutNHSservices/denti…

there is a link to info for under 16s etc

If you are under 16 or on certain benefits, its still free. Otherwise the individual dentist usually charges pretty much what he choses.

Go to the Dentist's what? Or is it a grocer's apostrophe you have used.
