I might have to get Braces! i have some questions about them?!

Question: I might have to get Braces! i have some questions about them?
I think I might need braces, I will ask the dentist about them when i go..
But, I turn 15 in March.. and what are they like?! I guess.
How much do they hurt, what are they like?
If i get them, what could i expect?
Thank you.

i got them when i was 12. i got them on at about 6 in the afternoon and by about 11 at night my teeth hurt so bad i couldnt stand it. during the next 2 weeks i could barely eat anything and even the slightest pressure on my teeth made them hurt so bad the i just wanted to knock them out. but the good news is that after that they will never hurt like that again. you need to go in and get them tightened every so often. after that they will be sore but nothing like after you first get them. if you get rubber bands it will make the teeth that they are on sore a little bit longer than the rest. other than that its really not that bad. i got them off in 2 years and 2 months and they gave me a bunch of candy.

I got braces a couple of days ago and I just can't tell you how much they hurt at first. Lol, sorry that probably doesn't make you feel so good. But hey, I'm just telling you what I am experiencing. If you do get them, you'll be expecting pain, and hunger. With braces, you can't eat anything hard for the first few days. You might also feel a wire or hook (if you have elastics) poking your cheek, which hurts a lot. But they give you some wax that you can put on the wire or bracket. It's really helpful. You'll also probably be taking a lot of Advil. For me, the Advil helped for the first and second time, but after that it kind of stopped working. I don't know, that's just me, it could be different for you. Your teeth will obviously get really sore, and you will be using your fingers a lot when you eat because you can't bite straight into something. It has to be cut into small pieces and you have to chew with your back teeth. Getting the braces on doesn't hurt at all, in case your worried about that. I can't tell you anymore than that so far, because I've only had them for like two days (no joke) , but it started feeling better for me on the third day. Hope this helped!

Well im 15, i got them when i was 14. Their normal , aafter ahile you wont even notice their there, ive had them on for 1 and a half years, after a month or so it just feel normal.
For me it hurt for a week, i recommend having advil with you during that week.
You will expect a lot of brushing teeth and youll excpect your teeth getting striaghter :)

Tips:
i didnt take care of my teeth good when i got the braces and now ive got cavities so i recommend flossing a tleast oncve a day, brushing 3 or more times and using mouth rinse :)

Okay, I don't have braces but I know from my friends: (who are a few years younger than you.)

It hurts for the first few days. A lot. You know what they look like a wire with colored brackets (or invisagline/invisable braces.) I would probably want to get invisigline (if i can) since im 12..because it seems less painless, but I'm unsure. Ask your orthodontist. hours after braces.

When (and if) you get them, you will be in a little pain a few hours after you get them, and I would reccommend having soft foods.

Again, ask the Orthodontist for full information. They are around $5,000.00

meeee and my visit with the orthodontist..3 times.....

Hi i'm 14 and will have had my braces on for 2 years in July which is when i'm getting them off (yay!). Ok, at first you might have to have some teeth out i have had 8 out and it didn't hurt me but i suppose it's your pain tolerance that matters.
Your first appointment to the orthodontist you will have an impression taken of your mouth which doesn't hurt but may make you gag! An x-ray may also be taken and then you might have to go on a waiting list for braces. It doesn't hurt when the brace is actually fixed on you can just feel them touching your teeth a lot but when these rectangular metal bands are fitted on your back teeth well they hurt.
On the first night you have them don't go back to school and remember to take paracetamol or something because i woke up in the middle of the night with the worst headache i have ever had because i didn't take any. You might get a few headaches, they will usually last for about 3 days and then you would have got use to them.
I would recommend eating something like soup or noodles or yogurt when you first get them because your teeth are going to hurt at first when you eat stuff. The toothbrush you get will be different because it should have a little pipe Cleaner sort of thing on the end and you have to use them to clean between gaps, it will take you longer ot clean your teeth than it did before and usually have to use circular motions. It will be a bit weird to full on kiss someone who also has braces because when you both have braces it's tricky!
Some people may call you names like Brace face and metal mouth but at least you won't have rabbit teeth like they probably do!
Then every 6-8 weeks you will have to go back to the orthodontist and have your brace tightened personally, i found that this hurts me a lot! But it depends how gentle or rough your dentist is too. If they break then just make another appointment and they will fix it free of charge but if you break it lots of times then soon you will have to pay for it.
After the braces, you will have to have a retainer to make sure the teeth stay in place these are a breeze and don't hurt at all but feel abit stiff at first. You may not be able to talk properly for a few days because your tongue needs to get use to how much room it has to use to pronounce words.
This is all of my knowledge of braces!
Good Luck!
You will get fed up of people telling you it's worth it!
If the dentist hurts me i usually bite his fingers lol. :s
