Could I have a gum disease?!

Question: Could I have a gum disease?
My gums are slightly red. They are NOT swollen ANYWHERE except around one of my front teeth (But it's always been swollen, ever since I've been a little kid. I think it's from when I fell and hit my tooth on a bar) and in one spot in the back (Where the molar is, which it has a cavity and it is abscessed or whatever, WHICH I AM GOING TO THE DENTIST FOR SOON, so please do not say go to the dentist lol). My gums have never really been PINK, though. I wouldn't say they are RED, only slightly. They don't bleed when I brush my teeth. And they never hurt. They are just a little red. So my question is, could I have a gum disease? Or do some people have naturally reddish gums (keep in mind that they are not RED like a tomato, only slightly light red.)

The redder the gums the more inflamed they are. Healthy gums are pale pink. You likely don't have full blown gum disease with bone loss, but probably gingivitis. This can lead to gum disease though and it's important to take care of it.
You want to reduce the bacteria load in your mouth, one is with fixing that broken tooth and the other one is with good home care which includes brushing twice a day, flossing once and rinse once. You want to make sure you brush your gums as well, ignore the bleeding if there is any and your gums will get better.

If you haven't had a cleaning by a dental hygienist in a while you may need to do that first before your gums get better. There's also certain medication, bad fillings/crowns or mouth breathing that can affect your gums. Ask your hygienist about it, she'll know.
