ROOT CANAL QUESTION PLEASE HELP!!?!

Question: ROOT CANAL QUESTION PLEASE HELP!!?
So I have to get four root canals and my questions are:
1. how was your experience?, does it hurt?
2. what medicine should I take BEFORE the procedure so it doesn't hurt?
3. can I take a sleeping pill before the procedure?
4. can I get 2 done at once?
5. can I get laughing gas and a local? will a root canal hurt with both of those?

The only reason I am afraid is because when I had to get fillings the local didn't work and it hurt like hell!

I wanna do IV Sedation but I don't think my parents insurance cover it ( united health care <--- Wells Fargo and Delta Airlines.) Do you know of any good dentist in Maryland? Some that offer cheap IV Sedation?

Answers:

I would want to know why as a minor (on parents insurance cover) you suddenly need four root canal treatments?

Do not take anything pre treatment, no pain killers and no sleeping tablets. There is always the possibility of a contraindication and therefore it is better to start with nothing other than prescription medication that you take on a regular basis.

Pain killers will be discussed after the root canal, and you will feel nothing of the procedure because of the local injections you will be given to you before the treatment. They are done singly because of the timing involved and it is unfair on you and the dentist if they were to do two at a time.

You must ring and discuss your fears with the dentist before the procedure so that he can make an informed choice about how best to treat you.

Are you my mommy

I've had two root canals, both done on wisdom teeth. 1. The experiences were quite good, even though it was hard the endodontists to reach way back there. The one endodontist asked me, "How are you doing?" I nodded okay, and he said, "I'm doing pretty good too!" It doesn't hurt during the procedure because they really numb you well back there. Afterwards, you can ask for and they'll probably prescribe you pain medicine for the recovery period. 2. I would NOT take any medication before going in there. It might interact with the pain medication that they'll inject directly into your gums. Consult with your dentist before doing anything like that. Interactions between drugs are called contraindications. 3. Do not do this. It will be okay. This is not a life and death procedure. I hate dentists too, and my vision of hell would be a row of dental chairs. Tell your dentist and endodontists your honest fears and misgivings. Let THEM as the professionals handle your pain needs. They studied this a long time to become a dental doctor. You haven't. 4. I don't think they will do that. It's a major procedure just to do one. If a dentist or endodontist said he'd do two, he or she may not be reputable. I'd get a second opinion. My dentist doesn't even want to do two fillings at one sitting! 5. I don't like the idea of laughing gas or gaseous anesthia from personal experience. I was a veterinary specialist and we had a dog in a dental procedure who was getting gaseous anesthesia; the dog died from the gas. I think you're overdoing the pain of the root canal. Think of the benefits afterwards. The tooth hurt for you to go to the extreme of getting a canal. I'd look for a naturopathic dentist. That's what I did. She's the only dentist I've liked (as are her technicians who are gentle) - no amalgam fillings and even uses acupuncture to help with the pain (she does the regular pain shots in the gum too; I'm not in Maryland). Do NOT get a CHEAP dentist or one who offers "CHEAP" procedures. Find the best dentist you can get. A friend of mine had a daughter in her 20s who got the "cheapest" dentist she could find. As a result, she suffered migraine headaches after the procedure for years and even went to the Mayo Clinic who couldn't help her. I'd get a different dentist who knows how to do "local anesthesia" effectively.

Hmmm My experience wasn't so pleasant. The dentist gave me a shot in my mouth to numb the area but I still kept feeling pain so they gradually gave me more and, but due to my body weight they couldn't give me any more than a certain amount. So i still felt it and so I decided to Just go with it. I felt it and it hurt. But not crazy hurt. It's kind of like poking/scratching your belly button, you get that weird pain but it is not where you made contact with, you get the pain in a some what distant area. I don't know what your insurance will cover , i had mediCAL at the time so I had the lowest crappiest coverage. As for multiple root canals at a time, I'm not sure because i only got one and needed just one. I don't think you can go to sleep because the procedure doesn't take long. After the procedure they gave me a gaz/ paper thing to control the blood and some pain pills to take away some pain. Also i wasn't aloud to eat or drink for a couple hours(i think it was 2-4hrs), you are not aloud to drink through a straw or any suction. So yea... that was mine. I dont know how good dentist are in Maryland though since I'm in Cali.

My life =/ I hate being on welfare
