Answers:

I have 10 dental implants all done on separate occasions. It was oral surgery and I opted to be put to sleep and it did not hurt. The doctor will give you a script for pain also.
Dental implants are wonderful and of course they never decay. It is worth the money for sure, but they can be very expensive. First you have implant placed and wait for 6 months to make sure everything is okay. They do have "immediate load" implants and you can walk out of the office with a temporary tooth attached to the implant if it is a front tooth. A while back I think I paid my oral surgeon around $2,500 for this procedure and my dentist $1,200 for the crown. You also have to pay the dentist for the abutment to this crown. It comes to around $5,000 at least when you are done. Also, if the tooth has been missing for a while they surgeon can place freeze dried bone in your jaw to build the bone back up. That can be costly too. I don't have to wear false teeth because of my dental implants, but it's a costly route to take. I did have dental insurance over the years that I had this work done and it helped a little with the costs.
