My permanent retainer is broken?!

Question: My permanent retainer is broken?
I had braces for about a year. They were removed in the seventh grade and I'm currently in the ninth grade. Well once they removed the braces I obviously had to get a retainer. I have permanent ones for my top and bottom teeth which are placed behind my teeth. You see, my top retainer kind of broke. It was probably at least seven months ago. I know I sound pretty stupid for not getting them fixed earlier. I told my mom the second I saw that it broke, but she told me to wait since she didn't have money to get them fixed. After that I kind of forgot about it. Today I noticed that one of my lateral incisors has shifted inward from where it snapped causing my canine tooth to appear as if it were sticking outward. It's honestly not that bad, but It kind of bothers me since I know that it wasn't like that before.

(it shows up a lot better at this angle but when I smile normally, you don't really notice it.)

I probably won't need braces again, well I hope not at least. I know that a retainer is placed after braces to keep your teeth from moving. But I was just wondering if my teeth would move back to how they were if a new retainer is placed. Maybe an invisalign retainer would work better? I honestly don't know.

It's bad that you waited. They could have made you a new retainer in a few days for little cost if you had told them before this shift. Now that you have waited, they might have to re fix your teeth. Yes, it could be as simple as invisalign, but that just doubled your cost. Call your orthodontist immediately and have them examine.
I wish you the best of luck. And if it happens again, call your orthodontist right after it happens!
