Hahahaha, I was exactly like you last year! I was 17 and I needed braces, but I didn't want to go to college with them. You are not too old for them, since I've been in college, I found out that I am far from the only one with braces. I get mine off next year woooh, but not until November, awww lol. On a serious note, I've also been told that I look younger than I am, but that hasn't stopped me from getting two jobs since I got my braces, so I think you will be fine. People will take you seriously if you take yourself seriously whether you have braces or not.
I am 21 and I'm planning on getting braces sometime soon.
As long as there's a problem it should be fixed.
If you're really concerned about your look you can have ceramic brackets, but regulars are not bad either.
I'm a junior at dental school & a lot of my mates (boys & girls) have braces .. and they still look as good :)

my uncle had braces at 37
my sister at 16
my brother at 18

I don't think it's weird. I got braces in high school and I was ok. I think braces are totally worth it in the long run. I have straighter teeth and I brush my teeth much longer than I use to.
NO they are not weird at 17 there not really weird at any age everyone is getting them!
I hated them when i had them but when you get them off its probably the best feeling you just smile all the time.
a lot of my friends still have them so dont stress :)

There is no age limit for braces. It may even make to look better. You have got to put on braces. If you leave it, your teeth may become worse.
