Does your mum not understand what 'windows' are? They're just where your teeth are protected by the brace so it doesn't get stained like the other bits, and the orthodontist cleans that off when they remove the braces.
Tell your mum, from me, that you ARE allowed to have chips, as many as you ate before, it's fine, you're just not allowed gum or anything else that can get caught in your braces like apples, because the skin can get caught in the brace.
Also tell her that the orthodontist never even said have NO chips whatsoever, she just said that it's not very good for your teeth and you shouldn't be eating SO MANY, not ANY. Nothing is good for your teeth apart from toothpaste, so lets all eat toothpaste for the rest of our lives, mum!!
Ya, sure, why not! My friends has braces and she eats chips every once in a while. Just make sure it doesn't get stuck in your braces because it is very hard to get that out! :) hope this helps!!! (:
MY friend! lol
You can eat chips just not an excessive anount and not really hard chips. Just your mom and dentist is wrong you can sister :D
You can eat chips just not gum and stuff like tht
when i had my braces i ate anything i wanted and i had no damage to them. i ate things like gum and chips
i eat laffy taffy with mine ;D they dont breaK!
I've had braces and when you eat chips they can get like stuck in between the brackets but It's temporary and will go away easily with a thorough brushing. I really can't understand why dentist (aka teeth cleaning doctor) said not to eat them. And I'm utterly confused about why your mother is not permitting you to eat them for two years. I'd definitely talk to her about this. I understand that you are really skinny, but is your mom a health-nut? Because maybe she just wants an excuse for you not to eat chips because they are unhealthy. If and when you discuss eating chips with her, wait a week and then show her a healthy chips bag like SunChips? or something. If she still says no after you explain that they are healthy and that you will brush your teeth often, then maybe you should ask your dentist why he thinks you shouldn't eat them. Also, he might be nervous because of sugar that can lead to cavities. So point out that you brush often and maybe you should try using a Proxybrush? I never did but dentists LOVE them. When I used to go to the dentist they'd constantly nag me about using one.
Good luck!
