Is this right? Very bad tooth pain.?!

Question: Is this right? Very bad tooth pain.?
I recently went back to the dentist and had teeth filled. They filled 7 teeth, all on the bottom (molars & Bicuspids). I'm 17 years old and i really don't take pain that well. Are they supposed to really do this much? They told me my cavities were very deep and that i would be in no pain at all after, yet here i am in immense pain unable to sleep, eat, or function at all properly. They weren't going to prescribe me anything but at the last minute they gave me a very small amount of vicodin. Did they mess up or do something wrong? Can i go back to the dentist to get more pain killers so i can actually function?

Answers:

What I did after the numbness wore off was put some tooth ache medicine and then take a sleeping pill. I slept it off and the pain was gone.

Personal Experience

maybe you had an exposed nerve in one of those teeth that they didn't kill or just missed.
either way if you're in that much pain you should definitely go back and demand the dentist take another look.

and as far as functioning on vicodin...maybe you should switch to ibuprofen.

It shouldn't hurt that bad after a filling but if you have sensitive gums/teeth there could be some swelling. If the pain is still this bad by tommorrow, rebook an apointment with your dentist.
